FYI,
I have tried about 5 different sets of pads and have the following suggestions.
Rear Disc Pads ALWAYS USE THE OEM PADS!!! ANYTHING ELSE SQUEALS! Also the "special shims from the dealer" will help IF the OEM pads squeal.
Front Pads Either OEM or Euro Ceramic Pads (Akebono) The Ceramic Pads have MUCH less dust and it is easier to get off my Columba's. Anything other than these pads and I got "School Bus" type squealing.
Always use OEM rotors. Brembo. The surface quality is MUCH better on them than any of the others and slotted or crossdrilled rotors tend to have a lot of vibration under braking.
Buy a tube of the "grease" from the dealer and apply liberally it will cut down on noise and IMHO helps pad life by allowing them to "return" better when your off the brakes.

I will tell you my story with the so famous AKEBONO CERAMIC BRAKE PADS. I had bought the front pair, and up to now they work great, no squealing at all. So about a month ago, I decided to change the rear pads, and took a chance on the AKEBONO again. After I myself saw how the replaced the brake pads, I took the car at night and got to a bend, stopped at the enter of the curve and what do you know, the rear wheels locked, the car went straight forward and I crushed against a wall. The car took a hit in the corner light as well as the front bumper. So It spent about 3 weeks in the shop, and I took responsibility on the crash, until 3 days ago when I took it out of the shop, I realized that whenever I brake hard the rear wheels lock, when before with the oem brake pads I never had that problem, the car was so stable I enjoyed driving it hard. My suggestion, dont get akebono rear brake pads.
