Default 850 turbo cutting out

Howdy y'all, im having issues with my 95 850 turbo at higher rpm. I'll punch it, and the car will pull hard all the way up till 4 or 4500 rpm and then it feels like the the engine cuts out. it almost sounds like it's too much boost for it and it's releasing it repeatedly: pfft, pfft, pfft. any ideas why?

When was the last time you had the car at stage 0? Replaced the PCV system? Replaced plugs, wires, and distrubitor?

I've got the same thing going on with mine. I've determined that it is the CBV on the turbo that needs replacing. Either the seal or the spring has gone bad. It's like your car is sprinting and it completely takes the legs out from underneath you right? You car doesn't stall, just loses power for a second. I have the part, but I haven't had time to replace mine yet. It's a project, since it's hard to get at on the turbo.

It can't hurt that you do what rspi has suggested if you haven't already. I already did those things to my car and the problem still persisted, that's why I determined that it's my CBV.

hey thanks for your input. that sounds exactly like the problem i have. if you ease up on the gas pedal does it stop? if i only squeeze down about 3/4 this problem doesn't occur. but i will look into the CBV and try to replace it. thanks again!

Yup. It only really occurs under harder accelleration. With regular driving it will not happen. That's why I've been able to drive around with it acting like that. You just have to be gentle w/ the gas pedal, or at least be prepared for the loss of power when you do step on it.

One thing you'll notice is a light fluttering sound. If you roll down your windows while driving on a quiet road at a slower speed, you'll hear it when you take your foot off the pedal. Then you'll know that it is quite likely your CBV is faulty.
