850 Turbo Wagon Tranny Fluid
DEXRON-IIE has been superseded by DEXRON III.
Recently, there have been a few posts regarding the tranny. Make sure you check the fluid level & condition correctly and do flush & drain for a few times or until the fluid on the dipstick appears clear red with no debris.

Depends on which instructions and method you will use. If you are going to use the drain fill x 3 method, get 3 gallons. If you are going to do the iPD fluid exchange methond you will need 2 gallons.
They don't make DexronIII® anymore. Like DII the license to manufacture it ran out a while back. You'll be looking for Dex/Merc. If you read the label on the back of the bottle it will say it's suitable for DexronIII® applications.
You can also use other fluids including synthetics you just want to make sure on the back they say they are suitable for DexronIII® applications.

I'm obsolete indeed

You're not obsolete as long as you can be updated with fresh information
And you're not old unless you had to pay a deposit to be put on a waiting list for your cell phone.
I still have my first cell phone, a "brick". Always wanted to splice a newer working phone into it's keypad and display just for fun.
That or you remember when oil came in a can and you needed to punch a hole in it to pour it into your engine

As a matter of fact, the oil can in your pic is still used for jet engine oil (Mobile Jet-II, BP2380/2197, etc...). Many airplane mechanics use flat-blade screwdriver to open the can. Some of my former co-workers were using jet oil for their car/motorbike.

I haven't seen cans in forever. I remember working for Union Pacific railroad as a field tech and we needed to do an oil change on four diesels on a siding. Pretty sure back then we just pulled the plug and let it drop. Didn't know any better.
You know you're in a small town when you can't get gallons only oil in quarts. At about 15 gallons an engine it seemed we were tipping cans all day trying to get those four back up to full
