Default 850 won't start warm; fine if cold or hot

My 850 starts instantly if cold, or if hot, but if I start it and drive a mile and shut it off, it won't: Doesn't engage, no click, no nothing. Other electrical functions, lights, radio etc., not affected. Been this way for over a year. If I drive downtown to the postoffice or coffee shop I have to leave it idling. After it has idled another 15 minutes it is okay and will start instantly again.

Unfortunately that could be any number of things:
  1. bad starter or starter solenoid (part of starter)
  2. bad or mis-adjusted PNP switch
  3. bad ignition switch
  4. loose battery connections
  5. something else..
The weird part is the relationship to temperature; the only one of above that might have a correlation to temperature would be #1. But this is all a WAG; need to get in there and diagnose it.

Inaccurate coolant temperature wouldn't disable the starter.
