850T CD Changer problem (1995 Sedan)
Hi Folks--- I recently bought a 1995 850T sedan with a Volvo 6 CD changer mounted in the trunk. I used to have a '96 sedan that had an Alpine Cd changer...this one just says Volvo on it.
Anyways, when I put CDs into the unit and then press the CD button on the radio, it seems to cycle through as if to prove there are 6 CDs, then flashes "CD 0, Track 0" and wont play. I can click on any CD # I want and it seems like it is making the effort to load that CD but never plays just goes to the "CD 0 Track 0" display.
Any ideas? OR is this unit just stuffed??
Please, please any help or suggestions will be appreciated

Are the CDs original? If they're burned they could be on a different format? Could try to take cover apart and see if anything is engaging. Maybe it just needs a little cleaning or servicing. Mine had a CD exploded in there and causing the unit to jam and skip. Since Volvo uses Alpine units I guess you could plug in to another Alpine CD changer to see if that will work.
Thanks for the reply.
CDs are your basic store bought variety. The 6-pack pops out cleanly and with no issues. There doesn't seem to be anything internal that is amiss with the cd changer/player itself. I am wondering if there is a problem with the main radio control unit if it isn't the CD player??
Anyone else have a thought, suggestion or comment please?
I must say I have really enjoyed reading the posts on a variety of subjects here.

If you take all the CDs out then let it cycle what happens?
With one CD in the cartridge, can you see the Disk actually being transfered?
Is the power fuse blown? (dont think it would cycle without it but have to ask)

With or without CDs in the holder, the changer pulls the cd tray over and then back. The Radio shows CD and Track 1-00, then 1---, then 2-00 then 2---, etc etc. when it hits 6---, it then says 0-00 and nothing more. With cds in the trays it looks like the cds might be lifted off the tray and spun but then dropped back into tray and pushed back into holder.
Appreciate the help. Hope someone has a solution to make it work!

Sorry, I have nothing left to offer. If you know someone with a volvo that you could swap the head unit out temporarily to see if its the head unit of the changer. That would at least narrow it down. By what you are describing I would put my money on the changer being bad.
Ahh, that is what I was afraid of, a bad unit. If anyone knows where I can get an inexpensive new or used changer (besides E-bay of course!) that is compatible with a '95 850T sedan, please let me know.
Thanks again. Great site.
