Last year, 12-06 I bought a 93' 850 and described driveability problem resulting from thetransmission malfunctioning.You can search the archives, and see that I flushed the transmission fluid and it took care of the problem. Until a couple of days ago the light (arrow) came on again and was flashing, but no driveablity problems. The fluid was a little low, added .5 qts, cleared the code ran fine another day, and the light again came on, flashing. Last night I flushed 14 qts of Dextron III while the engine was on and me pouring the fluid in. As I was doing this, the flashing arrow extinguished! My son is now driving it and will update if light comes back!
Just for some info, the fluid coming out was really dirty and a bit burnt.It took about 7000 miles for the fluid to get this way. I suspect I am getting some slippage from the clutch packs, which is destroying the fluid in only 7k miles. Anyone else have same experiance or thoughts about this?
Also I will post another question later, regarding 5 speed manual swap in this automatic car!

I personally believe that the clutch plates are wearing out, as you have described. The tranny fluid should not get dirty in mere 7,000 miles.Wait tohearwhat Tech & others think.

Here is another update. As I stated before, after flushing the fluid, light went away,but came back two days later. Then it went away again and has not returned for almost 500 miles! Still drives and shifts fine! I hope this buys me another 7000 miles till I find a donor 850 with a 5 speed to do a conversion!

Good to know that.

Just keep an eye on the fluid, inspect it once/week or so.
