Default 94 850 Purge Valve Location?

Car is stalling out after filling the tank. Goes away after about 4-5 gallons is burned off. I have a spare parts car so I was gonna switch out the purge valve. I cannot find it anywhere. It is not located on the radiator like the others. Have a friend that has a 97 and we easily located it. Does anyone have any idea where this can be found? Thanks

If it's not it, all I can suggest is following the Vacuum line from the charcoal canister. But hop this is what you need. Good Luck,

Thanks for digging that up. My car does not have that cover or the purge valve shown in the picture you posted. That set up looks exactly like the 97 my friend has. I'm baffled. Maybe it has no purge valve?? Look at this link and go to the one that has a 850 listed with no turbo. No purge valve is shown. http://caunter.ca/volvo960/fe14826.pdf

(only it wasn't on a Volvo) About 10 years ago or so, my girl friend at the time had this piece of **** chevy. Anyway, her car would do the same thing. It was either that, or it did it when it got below 1/4 tank. Sorry, can't remember which. Anyway, after a week of trying every thing one could imagine, I finally pulled the tank. (No trunk access,) Low and behold, it was a filthy sock filter. Now what always baffled me, was her car only had those symptoms depending on the amount of fuel, in the tank. Otherwise it was fine. So somewhere to look if you find yourself stumped. (i.e. the pump screen/filter inside the tank) A few years later, I also saw a car that would take forever to start in the middle of summer. (And only in the middle of Summer) Instantly, I had Nam-like flashbacks. (Once again, no trunk access) Luckily, replacing the inline filter cured that I'll. The moral of the story? Most people overlook the fuel filters as being a cause. Don't! They are cheap and easy (in most cases) And thats why audi fuel pumps are ****. Their filter screen is integrated in to the pump.
Thanks for the input. I already changed the fuel filter and didn't see any results. As for the pump screen inside the tank....I have not. I have a spare car and when spring rolls around that may be something I switch out...the fuel pump assembly that is. Otherwise, I can live with this issue til then

See the difference. (It's not encased) Did you try following the line from the canister? It should be between it and the manifold.
I agree something is off. When I get time I'll take a pic and post so you can see what I'm talking about. I can see the two holes where something should be screwed in on the radiator but nothing is there. It's now throwing code 1-1-3 and 1-5-4 and running like crap. Can't get it over 60mph

Can anyone tell me what would cause the 1-5-4 code. It's the one that comes back after about each reset. What would cause excessive flow in the egr system? Thanks

First place I would look is the egr passage to make sure it isn't clogged.

About the only thing that can cause it is the EGR valve itself. It might be stuck open or there might be something keeping it from closing when it's supposed to close. You can try taking it off and cleaning it and the passage it sits on out to see if that might cure it. Carbon does build up in them.

Might be that it happened when below 1/4 as the pressure (weight) of the fuel itself helped the pump suck the fuel in through the plugged strainer.

Figured out this is an early enough 94 it does not have the purge valve. Still having performance issues. Changed out 02 sensor...no change. I'm going to take off the egr valve today and clean it up and while I'm at it clean up all the pcv system as well. I will report back. It's running so bad after a fill up now you can barely pull out of the gas station....
