Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to this, but I'm looking to find some help about this problem. I'm a proud owner of a 94 850. The car runs great, except sometimes it stalls while it's running and then we can restart it again a couple min after. I just got the volvo back last week because I had it stored for the winter. In october (before storing it) the car first stalled at night while it was raining. I was on the highway and suddenly the engine just stopped and i had no power anymore. After a min or so, it restarted. It did the same thing about 5 or 6 times during the rest of the travel. When I took it to get it stored, it was sunny and I had no problem at all. So I was thinking it maybe a wiring problem. I got it back last week and I had no problem at all. I have used the car all week long without stalling. Yesterday at night, while on the highway, the car stalled again. But this time while the car was still moving i pressed the gas pedal and the engine restarted by itself, without stopping or turning off the car. I turned it off anyway and when I started back, the engine was sounding weird like a lagging sound. Like if there was liquid in the motor or too much gas. After that, we had no problem for the rest of the ride. Does anyone have a clue or have/had the same problem. Thx everyone.

 

Try replacing your 103 fuel pump relay located under the hood in the fuse box region, unscrew the black casing for the fuse box and you will find the "103" fuel pump relay under; could be green in colour for your year. Replace it with a 103 Pink* newer relay and see what happens, that solved it for me for over 2 years now i have a different issue. Good luck
