94 855T Transmission help ... questions
My transmission is giving me problems
stupid flashing arrow on the dash from time to time come to haunt me
I reset it by furiously moving the shifter 40 or so times back and forth and its good for sometimes a day sometimes 3 miles or even less
I went to the dealer and was told the car needs a new tranny
Now my questions are
will any 850 Turbo tranny work?
what do i need along with the tranny itself? any electrical things such as chips computers ?
can i reuse my old torque converter or should i use the one that comes with the other tranny?
also what is the deal with the Euro 850 turbo tranny that is currently on ebay? would my torque converter work on it? would that work with my 94?

When the codes come back again follow directions in the link and pull codes from A1. Then post the codes.

....well, in some cases it is true though.
Could you elaborate on what symptoms you are experiencing other than the flashing arrow? Did you check the condition & level of the tranny fluid? The fluid must be clear red and must not have burnt odor to it. I once had shifting problem accompanied by the arrow, and all it needed was a half-quart fluid topped up. The problem never came back.
I would first check the fluid & retrieve codesfrom the TCM. Most likely your tranny needs the fluid added (Dexron-III/Mercon), the PNP switch replaced, etc... Do not buy another tranny before you test out these items. Listen to other members as well.
