The Ac compressor in my 95 850 won't clutch in. The compressor is free to spin. There is gas in the system.

Is there a relay or switch to look at first?

Is there a way to bypass the controls and clutch it in to confirm the compressor condition?

On the right side of the car there is a metal switch inside a pipe.You can unplug it and jump the connection if it turns on then the switch is bad or you are low on freon.That is the low pressure switch.

If not then check for power at the compressor with the switch jumped.If you have no power there check for power where you jumped it if there is none there then the A/C control head is most likely bad.
