I have a 95 850 with the 2.3 turbo. The vehicle has started to display a problem with idling when in gear. It starts fine, idles in park normally and will cruise smoothly down the freeway or around town as long as you don't have to stop. When in gear it will idle down to 300 and die. If you "two foot" it you can keep it running at a stop light but if you don't work the gas when stopped in gear it dies. Any ideas where to start or what there is in the idle control circuit I can try to clean, adjust or replace to try and cure this ? ? ?

I would clean the idle motor and throttle body.

 

Never trust the seller. They didn't know it was OBD II. I used a scanner to reset the codes (9) and drove it a bit. Set a code for the MAF sensor. Reset it just to make sure and it came back. Reman Mass Air Flow sensor and it idles like a champ.
Now to start upgrading it ! ! !

 

It could be an egr valve issue also. The egr valve usually opens in unision with the throttle if it's stuck open it could be recylcling exhaust gas through the intake at idle leaning out the mixture too much causing the stalling. You don't usually have a problem at start up because the mixture is extra rich and the throttle is closed nor is there an issue at mid to wot throttle because that's it's normal function.
