95 850 wont start ??
So im new to the forum, and this is my first post. I did some searching on yahoo and found this website so here it goes...
i recently acquired a 95 850 from by brother. The car has been in my immediate family for about 8 years. About 8 months ago my brother brought it to me so i could do some basic maintenence to it. i replaced the plugs thinking that although minor, it would make a difference cause they had not been done in a while. My mother drive an s80 and i talked to the mechanic that she's used for a while, and after having allready replaced the factory plugs with bosch platinum +2's he said dont go with aftermarket plugs, the car will run fine for a while, but eventually one day its just not going to start.
last friday after not driving the car for two days, i went outside to start it, and nothing. spins over but will not ignite. First thing that comes to my mind is what mitch told me. So i checked fuel pressure today, and then cap, and rotor, the rotor appeared to be in dire need to replacement so i went ahead and replaced it along with the cap. After reassembly, still turns over but no fire. I removed the spark plugs to see if they were fouled, and they were a little, but since i'd been turning it over quite a bit i figured it could be from all the unignited gasoline, and i cleaned them with a brass brush and put them back in. Still no luck.
At this point i started researching, read a few threads on this forum, and just performed the MAF rubbing alchohol "shake and bake" method, and am waiting for it to dry out. Anyway after cleaning the plugs i checked and they were sparking, so at this point im just wondering if anyone has any other ideas i should try out.
I've worked on cars since i was 16, and i've got quite a bit of experience, however it never hurts to ask people for a little help, so i hope to hear back from the community.
Thanks -Dan

RE: 95 850 wont start ??
Well i let the MAF dry out, and put it back in the car, also tried to red for codes, found nothing, cranked it over for what was about 30 seconds and it started to speed up and finally fired up and ran like crap for a second and then cleared up. I put some dielectric on the rpm and cam sensors before i started it up, and im kinda wondering if one of them is on its way out, letting it warm up to operating temp now and im gonna see if it will start when im done.

I have heard of random issues of where the car suddenly will not start one day. Folks did exactly what you did... crank the hell out of it for a bout 30 sec to 1 minute and afterward it ran fine. Try searching for that issue on the forum, you might find the same stuff I did.
