95 Turbo 850 Fuel Pump
Hello!
I currently have owned two volvo 850 but this car would be my first turbo one. I have owned plenty of turbo cars just no turbo volvos so I thought it would be wise to post on here.
I can pick up a 95 turbo 850 wagon for a good deal but they claim it needs a fuel pump.... Is there anyway for me to check that is all it needs?

There really isn't much that you can do that is definitive unless it runs. You can pull the codes from port A-2 but that won't necessarily tell you everything.
There is a risk that the seller may change their mind but you can try to jumper the fuel pump relay (a paper clip between the socket positions associated with pins 15 and 87 will do it) and the see if it starts.
If it does start then you can drive it home.

Even if the fuel pump is shot, you only need the electrical motor (core) of the pump. The entire assy costs over $300 but the core is only about:

I thought Hella-Pierburg (German) was the OEM and the core insert was $ 160 or so......
Anyway, if you decide to buy the car and the pump is really an issue, I would do both the pump & the relay.
