Default 96 850 GLT ABS problem. Please help diagnose.

For the past week the ABS and TRACS lights have been coming on periodically (both come up and go away at the same time). I hadn't experienced any difference in braking until today. I was slowing down for a stop sign and I felt the brake pedal kick up like the ABS engage. It was a normal stop, not full pedal. About 5 minutes later I was slowing down for a speed bump and it felt like the power brakes went out. The pedal kicked up. I still had braking power but I had to press like a mother for the second and a half it was off. I checked the brake fluid and it's at its normal level.

Any diagnoses? Thanks!

Any codes? Sounds similar to what happened when I had a wheel sensor go bad.

I don't have a code reader or whatever it is. I looked in the manual and it said nothing about the two warning lights (ABS and TRACS) coming on at the same time. Sorry I don't have any more info.

Greetings,

For that type of problem, the dealer is the only place that have code reader/scanner (unless you can find a fancy OBD-II scanner: On-Board Diagnostic Second Generation, a tester that can retrieve fault-identifying codes from your car's computer).

If all else fails, try this guy:

Good luck,
