The ride in this car is very hard . I've replaced the front suspension to factory standards, last year just wanted a smoother ride. Now I'm replacing the rear pads and rotors "any recommendations"? I would like to go with zinc rotors to avoid the rusted steel. Any way while I'm there I might as well replace the rear shocks. How common are the self adjusting shocks? For the price I hope I don't have them. Did they come on the 96 850 GLT FWD? I think it might be on the VIN with an ''R" to know for sure. All I'd like to do is get a smoother ride, none of the "high performance " for me! All I need is more of the plastic parts Volvo used to crumble due to a hard ride for tighter turns without sway! This car is simply for pleasure. Thanks for any help.

I believe the GLT's and R's had Nivomats. I am refreshing my 850R that has the Nivomats in the rear. I'm using the FCP Sachs strut and shock kit, and replacing the rear springs with Lesjofors 9140099HD. Rear springs should be replaced if you do not use Nivomats. Not at the point yet for replacing brakes and rotors.
