96 850 GLT Shift Knob Thread Pitch?
I own a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT and I am looking to spice up the interior with a new shift **** since mines old and crusty. I don't really know what size to buy so I'm looking for the size and thread pitch. Any answers?
I replaced mine a couple of months ago. I bought the OEM. Now when you go to take the old one off BEWARE! After a lot of reading and advice from different sites try to avoid jerking it off when in neutral, pulling it straight up. Yes it comes off but also tore the gear selector with it! I try to keep my 96 GLT cherry and this made me sick. I don't know how I'll replace it, but just a heads up when you find what your looking for.
Little button in my shifter **** is cracked in half (previous owner was the Hulk?). Still works, but lowers my morale every time I touch it.
Finally got round to looking online for after-market replacement. Was astonished and disappointed to find:
* Most ***** are for manual (gear graphic imprinted), despite manual being rare.
* ***** have no little button—required for Volvo. One I did find with a button, was mounted on the side, not front, as needed.
* ***** all seem to screw on—where Volvo is a push/pull affair.
Been wondering if my ONLY option is another drab OEM.
