Default 960 throttle body?

Somebody in my area is selling a 960 throttle body on craigslist, claiming it as a performance mod for the 850
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/1728267388.html

I've never heard of such a thing on the 850. Any reality here, or just somebody trying to sell his parts?

What he claims is true but you can pick one up at a wrecker for a bit cheaper.

There's a huge thread on Matthew's site about it; only applies to N/A from what I've read, and will only impact throttle response, not top end.

Again, all from what I've read about it; haven't tried myself as yet, but may get round to it eventually...

Quoting my own quote

I was wrong. I tried to get one from Pick n Pull in Sacramento and it was $45.

Also a 850 N/A throttle body is the same as a 960 throttle body.

Cheaper still to buy a replacement throttle plate from TCP and do the swap yourself. It's a 15 minute job, 20 if you really take your time.

But that is only for N/A throttle body's. It does sway with the plastic piece on the throttle plate.
The turbo throttle body is a 60MM and the N/A throttle is 65MM.

Hey guys - I changed out my 850 (non-turbo) throttle plate with a 960 throttle plate.

Fits perfectly, looks great, feel great on the throttle response.

Now for my question:

When I changed the plate out and put it all back together I got a couple interesting symptoms...

1. The car's idle, when you start it up (in Park) revs up to 1000RPM and then holds there. It idles at around 600 when i'm in drive and waiting at a light.

2. My CEL came on 2 days after the throttle change. It's a P0400 code. EGR Valve. I've read on here that the EGR should be cleaned at regular intervals (which I didn't know and have never done). I'm going to try and clean it and see if the intake port is clogged or something.

Anyone else have any problems when they changed the 850 plate for the 960 plate?

Did you knock some vac lines off the EGR valve or get them switched around by chance? No vac leaks?

hi guys,

i too performed this mod today, but when i start the car, it immediately jumps to like 2000rpm and will settle at around 1500rpm. I noticed that when looking through the throttle body when held up to a light source, there's the tiniest of space between the TB plate, and the TB housing, is this normal?

Also, I think i might've had trouble putting the TPS sensor back on since the very first time it started, it revved straight up to 4000rpm. Is there a specific way to turn it to install it? Thanks for the help guys!
