Default '97 850 T-5 Boost Question

Hello all, I am new here but very happy to be a Volvo owner. Anyways, I just picked up a '97 850 T-5 w/168,000 miles. guy who owned it before me put a cat-back exhaust and intake on it. My question is that I have a boost gauge (aftermarket) on it and it really only pushes 7psi when pushed hard. I know it should be getting more. Is there a manual boost control valve on the car already? Or is there anyway to get better boost out of it. Turbo kicks in around 2500 and really kicks out around 4500. Its a great car just curious? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

My guess would be that you have a top oil cooler intake hose collapsing. Check that first.

Your stock system is going to boost to 9.6psi so you could be right there now. You can add a manual boost controller to it but the ECU is designed to cut the fuel at around 14psi. Getting a tune will remove that fuel cut off and let you run higher boost.

Could be any number of things. Get it to stage0 first, then read this and go from there..
