97 850 T5 Turbo Stutters during idel and initial acceleration.
Greetings,
My 850 just started to hesitate when idling and just when I put on the gas. It seems to be better once it's warm, though the symptom is somewhat intermittent.
Any ideas as to what I should look into first?
Also, I'm interested in getting my own code reader so I can see what it's telling me. Something I could plug into a laptop would be preferable.
Thanks,
Fred

Hello Fred,
Is there an Autozone near you? See if there is an auto parts shop that provides free OBD-II diagnosis.

I too, am not sure as to laptop-connecting OBD-II scanner. I only know that Actron has been a good mfg for OBD-II scanners.

I have a generic elm327 hardware ($70 CAN) and few free downloaded softwareson my laptop which make a good tool for almost all post 96 cars for getting Diagnostic Trouble Codes, engine and emmision related codes and clear check engine light etc. It doesnt read any ABS, SRS and Tranny codes but still helps in getting real time data from engine and emission sensors. I would suggest buying something like this as compared to small generic code readers in the market as many of them just give codes and you need to get the codes defination from a book or 'forums' and also this software thingy provides realtime sensor data which is cool for diagnostics sometimes. I just love to see the virtual dash onthe laptop :P
