Hi, I have a 90 740 GLE, love the car. I have a idel speed prob. When the car gets to running tem, the idel goes down to the 1/2 mark. between the 0 and the 1. And starts to idel rough. It will try to die if I sit at a light to long...It only does it when It is at running tem...When cold the idel is right at the 1....Any help please!

If I understand you correctly, once your car gets to operating temperature it idles at 500 rpm, instead of 1000 rpm and almost stalls. There is a cable that goes to the main throttle body that you can adjust. You will want to shorten the cable, (tightening the thumb screw) thus raising the idle speed. It could also be several other things that are bringing the idle speed down, such as vacuum leaks, clogged air filter, dirty throttle body, clogged intake hoses and the list goes on. But if it is running fine at higher RPM and when the choke is on, I would start with the cable.

 

clean your idle air control first. it is below the intake manifold towards the front. It has one electrical connection on it and two hoses. You can clean it with spray carb cleaner. It supplies the air at idle and is controled by your cars computer.
