Well, I tapped the starter with a long pry bar and rubber mallet combo and it cranked right up.

it is now sitting in my driveway and hasn't stalled out for ten minutes or so.

Idles smooth.

I purged the Shrader valve on the rail. I don't know. I think there's bad gas in the car or something too.


I'm going to order the timing belt kit from FCP tomorrow morning and the iPD cam lock as well.

Hopefully then I can go ahead and be able to drive it.



Also, For fun, I decided to see if the A/C works. It does! To a point. When I put freon in, as it was low, the compressor made a LOUD noise after it fired up and bucked the engine idle speed down to about 400. What could that be? Sounds like the clutch is slightly seized. So, I'll go ahead and get a different one of those. Are those the same on the S70's? I can reshim it while it is out.


Also, how can I get a substantial amount of gas out of the tank so I can Seafoam it and fill it back up with magic premium?

last thing to do is get the starter actually test, but odds are it is bad. unless the taping also jiggled the pnp. idk.

UPDATE:


I almost think that the FPR is bad.


If you release the fuel from the Shrader valve, the car is fine for a while, but will eventually stall out. Release it again and it runs.


You can hear the fuel pump whirring away in the trunk.

After I tapped the starter, it hasn't malfunctioned. So, I'll replace that. Can't hurt to replace it since its an older car.


I may just order a new FPR from FCPGroton once things get a little nicer out.

First I'm going to do the timing belt. On FCP it says that the timing belt kit is applicable to certain serial numbers on the 94's. I punched it in for the 94 Turbo. Can I just go ahead and order the kit? I don't want to get the wrong thing.

I think you can check FPR by disconnecting vacuum tube from it. If leeks gasoline it is bad.

I don't think you need to get the cam lock for it. At least my dad never did that when he changed the timing belt. He said it was pretty hard to mess up the timing when changing the belt.

I may buy the iPD tool just to have. Can't hurt and is cheap. I'd rather be safe than sorry.


Today, I went to the junk yard and got the passenger side fender gray trim that was missing and a new wiper arm. Along with most interior switches from the 95-97 models (A little more round and newer looking to me).

I spent five bucks


I also obtained the radio code from the dealer. The stereo POUNDS.

Once I confirm the timing belt with FCP I will order it.

When that is done, I will worry about the fuel issue. Something tells me its the FPR. Tune up will follow. Or, I may do the tune up after the timing belt job.

Yeah, I spose it's not a bad thing to have. I wish there was a junk yard around here where I could go to pick and pull parts and what not. That sounds like it would be really handy. I think I would be there all the time looking for things.

Werd.

The problem is that they're all GLT's.

Hell...they aren't even an LPT model...just N/A fail.


I swear, no one EVER puts new plug wires on their 850's. Every one at a yard has the original wires. There's a MINT wagon that was smashed on the side (okay, it was mint BEFORE the accident) and it has the original wires.


FCP never called me back today.

Haha, I know how you feel. It was so hard to spend all this time and money on bringing my car to stage zero before I could do any actual performance mods to it.

Indeed man. My wagon was fine, could have used a tune up, but it had all other necessary maintenance done.



Plus it needed more than this does.

When this car is done, I'll feel better about driving it, as I know it was done RIGHT.

I'll get pics this weekend. But the inside and outside are amazing.

I just hope I can get this thing going

It is a nice, luxurious combination. I would have liked a black interior, but this one is in such nice shape that its worth it.

That's good, a lot of tan interiors you see on 850's are usually in poor shape.

Are the starters the same across the model range?

I have found some that are from the 2.4L.

Will they work on the turbo?
