i've got a 1994 850 turbo wagon. i love it to death, but it's proving to cause more and more headaches.

my abs light intermittently comes on. i cannot pass state inspection with it on. i code at 142. i guess that's the brake light switch, but my brake lights are working fine.

the bad news is that when i reset it to take for a reinspection the light magically appears for the inspector. it was off for 2 days when i took it in this morning. it came on during the inspection.

any suggestions?

 

Sell it> Just Joking, Search for ABS lights on that model you will find your information.

Sorry about the problem, I had it, many others had it too. Some people say it is not so common on '93-'94, but many people seem to have had this problem. The nature of failure seems different between '93 & '94 and later models, but it is most likely cracked soldering inside the module. Most places that repair & upgrade the module don't seem to deal with '93 & '94 models, so you have 2 options:

1. Repair it yourself.
2. Buy a new/rebuilt module.

For option 2, you can eBay or get one from FCP Groton of Connecticut (I never use eBay):

Groton seems to sell only used units at $300 with 1-year warranty.

To repair the module by yourself, you would have to have a basic knowledge on electronics and soldering tools. There is a thread on this forum where I posted an instruction with photos, but I'm not sure where it is now. Do a bit of search; I believe it's within the first 10 pages.

1-4-2 is Faulty stop switch light. Doesn't seem to be an ABS module problem.
