Smile ABS light "ON"

Good evening and Hi to u all. Thank you for info reg. Screaming horn....and how to get your odometer working again.Try www.Odometergears.com I got my tags, registration and county sticker and got it out on the road today and I love it...Its a 5 speed gearbox and I learned to drive on a " stick"! well, that was the only type of tranny around where I was growing up in the Northern part of Sweden.
Now I have another problem and that is a ABS light "ON" all the time and as I am new to 850 ( 1996) I was wondering if there is a common problem on this cars?
Please get in touch if anybody has some ideas were to start looking. I assume I won't pass Inspection with that light and they gave me a month to bring it in for Insp. and Emission.
Thank you and have a grate evening.

Just had the same problem. Used Victor Rocha. The guy is fantastic. Sent him the unit, he rebuilt better than the original for $125. Gave perfect instuctions for removal and re-installation. You'll need an E-5 nut that he will sell you for $10. Less that a week turnaround. Volvo will charge you $400.

You can reach him for all info at vicrocha@earthlink.net

I have had the same problem with my car since I bought it, it has never ever affected performance in any way though.

Usually the ABS and TRACS lights go on at the same time, and it's the ABS module which fails quite often on the 850's. The module failure will not impair braking - except for ABS not working! Other than that, you'll be fine.

For inspection, it would depend what VA requires. In Illinois, they only care about emissions. My ABS/TRACS lights were glowing like a Christmas tree the last three tests and they never said BOO about it.
