air filters and EGR system flow faults

I just put in a K&N air filter into my 1994 850(non turbo) sedan. About three days later I got a check engine light indicating a 2-4-1 EGR system flow fault. Could this two things be connected?

you might want to pull your egr valve and clean it it is probably plugged i know mine was when i got it at 189k miles

doubt they are connected. the EGR tubes plug over time. When i got my car it was so plugged i had to clear out the opening with a cordless drill.
