Default air intake hose removal

Long time lurker, first post. Is there any secret to getting the air hose off of the mass air flow sensor on a 1997 850 GLT? I have the air sensor free of the air box and it spins indepently on the air hose, but I can't seem to get them seperated. I noticed a little notch on the sensor, is supposed to line up with something?

Not to my knowledge. Just pull real hard. Heck, I think I even left the clamp of mine last time. The thing pops on so good I haven't worried about it.

Reefed on it pretty hard and it popped off. Guess I was being too carefull about it. Took out the old sensor and sure enough it was missing about 1/3 of the sensor "wire". Put the remanufactured one on and the car is still stumbling badly under any kind of accelleration. It showed a 243 Code. I unplugged the sensor and it runs much better. Maybe a bad new sensor? History of original issue: 0riginally the car missed under hard acceleration and after backfiring one time, it started with the stumbling action. I checked the vacuum hoses and sure enough one was cracked wide open. I fixed that, but still had the stumbling issue, unplugged the sensor at that time and it ran better which led me to the new sensor. Just out of curiousity can any damage be done by that chunk of wire (structure) missing fom the old sensor?

It may be tight to get off but when it's in place it might be just loose enough that it can suck air (unfiltered) into the engine and it would be unmetered air as it's bypassing the MAF. I'd use the clamp
