Default Air mixing adjuster?

That is probably not the correct name but I am referring to the wheel on the dashboard that you use to adjust how much outside air you feed into the heater/AC. On my car this wheel is binding up and I want to repair it but I have not been able to find a diagram or info on how it works. Is it moving gears or just rotating a damper in the duct or what? Can anyone help with this?

I can't help you. I only know if it's open it kills the heaters ability to actually heat.

Heck, I have had 40 dash pads off and have never took the time to look. I'll try to check next week.

That's the part I am talking about and if I go into it I'll take pictures but I guess I over analyze stuff before I start taking things apart.

The Airmix wheel actuates a pretty long rod behind it which actuates a flap and bypasses fresh air for the front air ducts from the heated "route". If you are "lucky" the rod is the problem, if not something in the flap mechanic is not working... In order to get to the flap you need to take out the dash and also the "air box"...

The only time I have ever had to fix mine, was the spot where the air mix wheel mounts to the back of the dashboard had snapped.
