On the air pump
Last week, I was greeted first thing wednesday morning with a completely dead battery on the 850. Running late already, I had to push the car about 30 feet around a corner so I could get my other car out of the garage. =/
Anyways, that afternoon after work I hooked up the jumper cables and immediately I heard the air pump kick on, obviously the relay has gone bad. So I reached under there and unplugged power coming into the relay (blue/red stripe wire), which triggered a CEL as soon as I started the car.
Well, after I got the car moved, and the battery removed and hooked up to the charger, I tried to look up the air pump on my wiring schematic so I could figure out what triggers the CEL, but I could not find it anywhere. So I looked at the thing, and notice that there are only two wires actually feeding the air pump, that is, power from the relay and a ground that is bolted to the front clip.
So, I just unplugged the wire feeding the air pump (solid blue wire) and have driven 50 miles with no CEL. If I continue to have no problem, I'm just going to leave the damned thing unplugged.
