Hello,

I recently got myself an alarm set for my 1997 Volvo 850 GLT – alarm, hood lock, relay and fob. It came as a set and was confirmed working from the previous owner. I'm going to assume it is working for the time being.

The thing is I can't get it working. I'm not installing the hood lock and alarm itself until I know the fob works. I installed relay (9166157) replacing the bypass unit (3545333). I attached the cable into the green socket and tried the fob and nothing. I then tried programming it and still nothing. The red light in the middle of the dash did not blink – I'm assuming that isn't working at all but I read that it doesn't need to be.

I also have have the 'remote control' relay (9177999) and putting that in didn't help either altough the locks automatically locked themself when connecting that relay.

The fob battery should be fine as I hear the little 'beep' when you push the buttons.

So any ideas?

Some questions perhaps.
I didn't disconnect the car battery when installing it, but I don't know if that is needed?
The cable that you connect into the replay – what is the for?
