Default Am I missing some screws?

Ok so this weekend I had some issue's and went about fixing my car. After sadly having to rip off the engine cover (thank you stripped bolt) I noticed that I had some threaded holes that were empty. Just curious if its meant to be (same engine block for NA and Turbo I'm thinking) or if I have other issues also. Here is a photo. to me its moderate in size so sorry if its huge to others ><!
Notice by Plug 2 the threaded hole.

No you are not missing any screws. Those are extra holes. They are not used for anything.

you might want to check your oil cap seal. If it is hard and brittle, replace it. It looks like you have some leakage...hence the oil pools on the head.

Check under the spark plug covers as well. I have seen oil pool in there too.

This was a before photo. I was in the process of changing the Wires and noticed the extra holes and took a picture. No oil was pooled in the plug holes though one did have some stains. I cleaned out that one. The Old plugs where horribly warped and didnt have a good seal at all.

And Thanks Tech...still new to the Volvo world so I'm not as "learned" as I should be.. Only thing I can think of is maybe this post might help someone else eventually.

I am curious why Volvo made the holes in the cam cover in the first place. What was the point?

Maybe they had simpler-designed PCV system before they resorted to that complicated one we all struggle with?

Or, the extra holes were part of "Swedish" way of doing things.

What do I know.

I think they are there due to different standers depending where in the world you are.

Red face Fluid in the spark plug chambers...

When I did my PCV system last month I washed my engine area 1st. When I took off that cover I notice a lot of water there. For some reason I pulled a plug wire and found the spark plug chamber full of water, every one of them.

So, if you decide to clean your engine, you may end up filling up the spark plug holes with water.
