Another Road Trip...
I hit the road again last Friday. From Little Rock to Cincinnati, 630 miles. The car handled the tow very well. I had the cruise set at about 63 mph the entire way and averaged 18 mpg. I think it only lost a little speed on one hill. Barely felt like I was towing.
I love road trips...we just took one to Austin From Dallas...not as far as yours but still fun. We took the back roads and still made it in under 4 hrs. Average of 27mpg...no trailer..LOL...at 80mph.
rspi your picture brings up the question of how much of a load can we tow with these cars? Glad you had a good trip. I'm still trying to get enough time off work to take a road trip, hopefully up into the Sierras.
I have heard of people towing a car with a trailer with no problems (short distance, under 50 miles). This trailer is suppose to weigh about 1,000 lbs, and the stuff I had in it was about 400 lbs. The owners manual says the car can pull 3,500 with no problem. The issue is that it will have braking problems. So they suggest that you use a trailer with brakes when towing over 1,500 lbs.
I had a little brake fade once but not really an issue.
