Default Another Volvo

Picked up a 96 T5 Platinum wagon today. It needs work but the price was not too bad. I'm looking for some expert opinions on the restoration of this beauty.

It needs suspension all the way around and I'm thinking OEM struts and this kit from fcp http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exe...ategory_id/181

I want a combo of performance and comfort but I'm adding power so???.

I'm going to pull the motor and go through everything. My goal is 270 -300hp (stock pistons, rods and AT). Bought an R exhaust manifold and want 3" downpipe and 2.5 back to get the HP but the options seem limited and a bit expensive. I don't think shiny stainless is necessary but don't see any other options.

Tires.. I'd like good resistance to hydroplaning, wet grip, good wear, quiet, and cheap . ??

Also want to rebuild the turbo while I'm at it and wonder what anyone thinks of this writeup

It seems to me that he has the rebalancing thing solved, but would appreciate opinions.

Man, we want pics. As for the tires, the last part is probably hard, cheap. I just dropped $680 at SAMS for those tires. Michelins Pilots.

I know, I want it all. I expect from your previous posts you went with the 205/55's? I'll do the same, because of your post by the way, thanks great info.

I'm looking at these, great reviews and the price seems reasonable

Nice plug for the sponsers too.

Pics tomorrow. It was a repo so the door latches(because they must have taken it without keys) are all F'd up spent hours just getting one back door open, had to pull the door panel with the door closed and operate the larch mech by hand.

Looks sweet! Just like mine but with a wing. If you don't want the wing, you can send it my way. heh .. How's the interior look?

I thought you might like the wing. I liked it too but I had to choke back the wing emotion and go for the bottom line.

Truth be told, It's a serious project car. 3 owner, 1st up to 2000(100K), second up to 08(has 128K on OD but not working, we all know what that's all about), third trashed it and had it repo'ed( door latch mechs are broken, linkages missing because of the repo man breaking in). wanted to post interior but couldn't upload( can't fault VF ...server space is expensive) your interior it way better. Mine is tan, the front seat skins need to be replaced but the foam is good and still very comfortable. So I'll buy the sewing machine I've always wanted (tools are theeeeee best investment man can ever make) , some leather and make new skins, for me and anyone else. Big time Vac leak, brakes don't even work until up to temp.

Motor comes out next weekend. I'd still like some forged pistons and rods but $$$$$ This vid is just for fun. last night I watched it many times.
