This has been moved because this wasn't s70 specific. It was a General poll meaning it belongs in the General section.

I just replaced the battery in my 99 s70... the orginal one! 158K miles and it has original brake rotors, drivetrain and suspension componets. car has never failed to start. Not bad for a Consumer Report's "car to avoid"

Wish I could say the same for my 2002 GMC that has had 3 $500 fuel pumps a $600 computer, a $400 MAF sensor and a $800 catalytic converter just to mention a few .

Last week my wife and I went on a 2800 mile vacation in the 2006 V-70. Car has been flawless having just turned 15K. I drove 8 hrs through the worst of the Nor-easter on Sunday and never had a worry.

So yeah I am inclined to buy another Volvo

haha I've been there before Rickc10ny. Except it was 17 hrs from Nevada to Montana in snow falling so hard that at times I couldn't see 5 feet past my hood while I was driving 15mph. I never worried though. Knew the ol' girl would get me through it safely.

Yes I'm sort of buying another one today. Well my daughter is anyway. She is getting a 95 850 Turbo Wagon, burgundy with grey interior. You can see from my signature I currently own three and I had three previous to those. My son has a 98 V70 R, my other daughter has a 99 S80 T6 and my mother in law has an 01 V70. As you can tell my family has a passion for Volvo's. Before switching to Volvo, I was pretty much a GMC person. It hurt when Ford bought Volvo. So far I have stuck with 98 and older (pre-Ford).

I certainly would but, like JimKW, I would not buy later than 1998. I have had my share of Fords, before I could afford the Volvos, and I have vowed to never touch Ford again.

Let's hope Ford goes broke and someone who knows how to build good cars takes over at Volvo. Ah well, a man can dream!!

I love my V70. She gave me tourettes for a couple of months after i bought her but i've ironed out most of the problems. I don't know that i would buy ANOTHER Volvo though. I'm just going to keep ploughin money into this one and hope iget many year out if it. If someone can suggest something that is as good a balance of comfort and loadspace i might think about it but for now, i've invested too much in this one to think about another car at all. i guess with any 2nd hand car it always a bit of a gamble. At least i know what i've replaced and what still needs fixing. Better the Devil you know....!!

i have been driving volvo cars and trucksfor the past 25 years.ive owned the odd ford, saab, mercedes, toyota, vauxhall ect,but i guess i am just a volvo addict, i wish volvo would revive the 240, keeping the orignal size and shape but giving it some up to date stuff, nows thats a car i would definetly go out and buy.but until they do then i will have to make do with my old 93 240 torslanda. great car.

I will proably be selling my T5 soon. Just to get some extra funds to pay off the subaru's build and clean up my Grand National. Next fall'ish I will look for another 850 or V70 wagon. But this time it will need to be an R.

I would for sure. 2 years ago I bought an 89 760 with over 220,000 on the clock to replace my 97 Grand Am. Most would say thats crazy to buy an older car with over 75000 more kms on it. However in those 2 years the 760 has only had a water pump, rad and brakes. Regular oil changes not to mention too. Everyday i drive this car to school and back. Thats Grimsby to Missasauga and back 5 times a week. Now at 300652 kms I stilllove this car, comfortable, realiable and easy to work on. Not bad for a 17+ Year old car. No question that the grand amwould have let me down long ago. GM should take a lesson fromoldVolvo. Next car is going to be either a S90 or 960.(anything pre-ford).

I am torn, I love my 01 S40, it drives like a little sports car. I have however realized that the quality of the new post 98 cars is not nearly what I had expected. After numerous problems I doubt I would by and new model one again. I would however consider a Bertone though, they are my fav.
