Anyone know what causes this, and how expensive/difficult it is to fix?
Thanks,
Jeff

You should try e-mailing the seller to see if they can give you some info about the problem then we will have more info to work with.

Ask if the check engine light has been on, and if any trouble codes are stored.

Ask how long the problem has been occuring, and what are the temps that they are talking about. It can get pretty cold in Denver, but not this early in the Fall.

Did they make have any servicing or make any repairs before the problem started?

I live in California where we don't see very low temps, so maybe someone from a colder area might have a good idea as to what could cause this, but with a little more info I might have some ideas.

Are Volvos worth more in Denver? The seller says it's priced way below market value, but $2,000 for a 93 with 200,000 miles seems kind of high, even if it was running perfectly!

I had the same problem with a 97 960 and could never figure it out. In freezing temperatures, it would not turn on. I gave up on it...

I dont know about values in Denver. Actually I have not been watching Volvos in general until this weekend. Sold my Jeep unexpectedly Friday and am carless now. Anyway if you go to Kelley Bluebook, the asking prices for most Volvos here are on the low end. This one I should probably just stay away from then?
Thanks,
Jeff

It might be a bad coolant temp sensor.

You can't expect much for $2,000.
