I know the popular thinking is to put a 5 spd manual into your 850. I like my auto but wondered about adding another gear. From what I can find the 5 spd auto AW55-50 in the 70 series is the same trans body as the 4 spd auto AW50-42. Just wondering if anyone has any information on swapping them? If it's even possible? I'm guessing you'd have to replace/modify the wiring harness in addition to swapping the transmission and it's TCM but I'd love to find an article or be able to chat with someone who did one.

I have an RX7 with a 454 in it so I know if you want something bad enough you can make it fit!

Why?!

 

I'm lazy and romantic. I'd rather use my other hand for holding my coffee or my ladies hand while driving.
I'd also like the better acceleration and gas mileage an extra gear could give me without having to row my vehicle every where I go.
From what I've found out though, I'd pretty sure to get that extra gear I'd need the manual
