I was over at KlausC's house (over at Volvo Speed today) and I was talking with him, and he mentioned that there are little air dams in the back of the car.

There are 3 alligned on top of each other and they are in a position like this

As you can see, it's diagonal so air can push out and all the fumes can vent, however, sometimes the little foam doors do not make a complete seal so the air can rush back in. When the air rushes back in, that's when you get the fumes.

He said the easiest solution would be to just drive w/ the windows shut. If that's not possible, you need to replace the vents (I'm not sure of their correct Term), but you need to take out the trunk side matting to do it, and from that I hear it's kind of a PITA to pull out, but of course, it's very simple to put back in.

Thanks for the info. I will surely look into that. Where exactly are these vents in the rear?

The smell isnt that bad anymore as I usually drive with the windows up.
