Hello All,

Fasten your seatbelts and get this.

This morning I turn my left indicator on to merge onto the 427.

The Indicator wouldn’t go off, IT’S STUCK ON.
The hazard switch works and I am driving around downtown with both the blinkers on.
I checked further, tried to make it go on by turning and “clicking” the steering, don’t work
Left is blinking away to glory.
I noticed that the CD Track Skip, volume control, cruise on /off, the message read button.
Nothing works. The only thing that works on the 2 sticks is the wipers, but not the water sprayers.
So basically the wipers go on and off but I can’t spray water on the windscreen.

After about 40 minutes of driving the Lambda (check engine) came on too!
But I can’t read the message as the read click doesn’t work.

I can notice the panel back lights dim / fluctuate with the blinker
I know the dimmer for the panel lights was behaving funny for the past 2-3 weeks
But didn’t pay much attention, it would brighten up and dim on its own.

I have booked an appointment with Volvo tomorrow.
So if some one can offer some thoughts, I would be more at ease walking into
The valley of dead!!

Most likely a Bad steering wheel module.

Youre the man,

Question , can i try to reset this module by disconnecting the battery for a while
or removing the SWM fuse. Is the check engine light connected to this and will a battery reset take care of that too, or does that require a VADIS reset.

Also if all fails i will take it to the dealership.

the lady there said it might be a software bug or maybe something more (there usual style
give you hope and pull the plug at the same time)

how much am i looking at?? ball park?

 

Update on the situation.
the car was parked for about 8 hours

now the blinker has stopped blinking.
the steering controls still dont work, and the passenger front window and lock dont worked
every other window and lock works

i presume this is connected.

and yes the horn works

 

most likely connected.

 

SWM job being done today
530 dollars!! ouch


A mechanic at a Volvo shop decides to scare me by saying the “Body Control Module”
Can also be the culprit with the door locks and windows not working???
I hope that’s not true and hope, the SWM and the software download nails this sucker!!

OK job done got the car back.

2 days later, the LAMDA comes on with nothing else.
no yellow triangle , no message, NOTHING!!!

i disconnected the battery, connected the 2 terminals together for 2-3 mins
and started again, its gone now, but im sure itll be back.

it came on when the SWM blew, but i couldnt check for messages as the read click wasnt working.

whats this new pain guys!!

 

Wait and see if it comes back on.
