Default Audio System '94 850 Turbo Wagon

Hi,

My family has had our Wagon since purchase in 1994 and it has now come into my possession. The head unit is broken in the sense that one channel is always clear while the other is fuzzy until I play with the volume **** or turn up the volume. In addition, the rear driver side speaker blew out and the sound has been lopsided. I was wondering what after market head units and speakers people have added to their cars. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks.

Odds are pretty good you have a double DIN opening like my '97, which means you can pretty much put any head unit in there.

For the speakers, Volvo used some cheap glue to hold the magnets in, so you may want to thinking of replacing the speakers. If you do, then you'll also have to run new speaker wires because the rears are wired in parallel and the rears are in series, which will goof up anything new.

Stereo with GPS and DVD. It's available at Crutchfield.com I wish, I wish, I wish First picture.

I have a cheap single DIN head (second picture) and a couple amps (two of the third picture and one of the fifth picture) with a few speakers (two pair of the fourth picture). I also have two ported bass boxes with twin 12" speakers but I ran out of uploads. I don't think it would work in a sedan.

As stated in the title and in my OP, I have a wagon, so the space isn't really the issue. What size speakers did you end up putting in your wagon?

And two of these. Congratulations on your having a wagon I wasn't saying you didn't only that the amount of gear I'm carrying would not work in a sedan, at least not very well !!

As stated in my post, I have two pair of the bookshelf speakers and two of the bass boxes.

I picked up a box off Amazon that holds two 10-inch woofers. It's not a cube box, but triangular: Amazon.com: Atrend E10Dt B Box Series 10-Inch Dual Sealed Truck Boxes: Car Electronics

It fits perfectly behind the rear seat - blends right into the look of the car. I mounted a Polk Audio DVC woofer on one side and a Rockford Fosgate amp in the other side, so nothing is showing. I went a step further and installed quick-connects and water-proof boxes to all the wires so I can pull it out when I need the cargo space. Here’s a couple of pics: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...art=84#p242486

The only issue with it is when I launch, it tends to flip down as it's a bit top-heavy (and I'm a bit heavy-footed). Solution is to get some Velcro strips stapled to the bottom-side of the floorboard and wrap them around the box to keep it steady yet removable.

As for the rest of the system, I replaced all eight factory speakers with Boston Acoustics which are running off a Kenwood single DIN radio, all with new wire.
