is i possible to make a 1996 850 turbo into an awd...i waqs wondering because i am ganna have this car for a couple of years and i live in alaska and have to face expremely bad driving conditions. Right now all the streets are glare ice. This car had the option of traction controll but it dosent have it. Could i get this option installed at the volvo dealer or do it my self....if so how much?

 

You would be better off buying an AWD.

 

when did they start to make awd volvos. I was thinking about that but it all boils down to the $$$. I dont was a wagan tho. and at least a turbo.

Im not sure if it is prewired or not. But If so then you would have to buy the ABS module with traction control and install the switch for it.

But that is if it is prewired. You can try looking in the dash to the right side of the steering wheel. You should have a switch or 2 there.You will also have some blank covers. If it is prewired the plug would be behind the blank cover.

 

How about a set of Nokian dedicated snow tires?

 

AWD started in 98 with the V70XC.

My car was prewired for traction control, chances are yours is too.
