Default Awful Noise Under The Hood. Help!!

I just bought a 1997 850 T5 and other than needing brakes within the next couple months and a sunroof that doesn't open. I haven't had any problems other than a noise that is coming from the region of the Turbo. It's this loud roaring noise that only happens when I press on the gas.

I don't think it is a wheel bearing it doesn't sound like that and the noise is coming from higher then the wheels, does any know what it could be?

Hi Joshua, welcome to VF. Most people record a video of the noise while moving the camera around, post it to youtube or somewhere, then provide the link to it. other than that, describing it is like a game of sarades or something.

Noise is coming from turbo area....maybe the turbo? Lol.

Remove intake pipe and check for shaft play. Also check for exhaust leaks.

Okay well I figured out what the noise was, well my mechanic did. It turns out it was wheel bearing and my left front tire was very, very close to falling off. I also had to have both axles replaced and both of the front wheel bearings. $1300 total in repairs, darn this car is expensive to fix lol.

That's one big reason this and a few other forums exist: to DIY and save loads of dough!
