Back Seat Squeaks
Hi,
I just bought a 97 Volvo 850 wagon. When the rear seats are upright, there is a disctinct squeaking noise that comes from the latch connecting the seatbacks to the car frame. When the seats are folded down, no more squeaks.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

See if it's like a plastic on plastic or metal on metal, and see if you can use a little felt buffer of some sort. Nothing that will jam the latch mechanism, or will act as a material buffer. Not sure how long it would last, and I have no idea what the mechanism looks like (if it is shrouded like a seatbelt then forget it I guess), but might be worth a shot. Felt or cloth of some kind?
This was a problem for me too, before you go and spend on finding a solution, buy yourslf a can of 3in1 silicone spray lubricant and spray it into the seat latches, the hinge mechanism under the seat and anywhere associated with that area and see if that does not make a difference. I did mine and got rid of exactly the same problem, I now have a squeak free wagon!!!
