Default Bad Cross Caster (alignment)

Hello everyone,

I was hoping that someone with alignment experience can help me out. I just replaced the inner and outer tie rods on my 95 850 turbo wagon and had new tires put on the front. It is pulling to the right now after the alignment. I went to Sears for the tires and the alignment. I went back today a week after the original alignment to have them redo it since it was pulling a bit and the the wheel (steering) isn't perfectly straight. So, they had it today, put it on the rack and gave me a print out. It appears that they didn't do anything since they didn't show any before numbers just actual numbers. Here are the numbers from the print out:

Front Left:
Camber -.2
Caster 2.6
Toe .18
SAI 9.7
Included Angle 9.5

Front Right:
Camber -.2
Caster 3.6
Toe .12
SAI 14.4
Included Angle 14.2

Front:
Cross Camber -.1
Cross Caster -1.0
Cross SAI -4.7
Total Toe .30

Rear Left
Camber -.7
toe .11

Rear Right
Camber -.8
Toe .08

Rear
Cross Camber .1
Total Toe .19
Thrust Angle .01

So, the only thing in red is the Cross Caster on the front end. The specified range is -1.0 to 1.0 and it is at the far end of the spectrum.

Thank you for any help. I would like Sears to make it right if it is something that they can make right. If I need to fix something else I will do so too.

>I went to Sears for the tires and the alignment.

I hate to say, but that was a mistake. Many franchise shops are for starting-out mechanics with no ASE Master Technician Rating certificate. Also, servicing Volvos require specialised equipment, knowledge & skills in some systems/mechanism.

Anyway, a decent shop would use laser-type alignment machine, and this service should cost at least $50. This money is well worth it as compared to some $25 alignment that may not align the wheels right.

I had the numbers somewhere within the forum but can't find it at the moment. It was taken from my alignment results from a dealer (it was for sedan and not sure if the same numbers apply to wagons).

Try to find an independent shop that specialises in Swedish/Euro makes, or visit the dealer. The dealers are known to rip you off, so you need to know what you're talking about or you're in their hands.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you any better.

+1 to all of JPN's points!

I only recommend Sears auto service to people i don't like very much (OK, not even to them really...)

Thanks. Lesson learned I guess. So, should they make it right? Should I just go there every weekend until I get them to get it right? Or should I demand a refund since they are unable to perform the service I paid for?

Thanks all!
