Default arms

Junkyard aluminum arms $13 each, Meyle ball joints at FCP $19 each. Thats what I just did last weekend.

I wonder why Volvo stopped using the aluminum ones? Follow the money...Dave

It was likely cheaper to make or purchase the one piece ones.

I think the NE owners were bending them on those Pittsburgh pot holes. They still sell them, no cheaper than the 1 piece ones.

Kiss4aFrog is right.

My friends dad has worked at the dealership in my town since the early 1980's and said they switched over to one whole unit because it was cheaper.

Proof of that: I picked up aluminum arms about 6 months ago and he had a hard time pushing new bushings in because the dealership doesn't have the right tools, like he said they just replace the whole arm when a bushing or balljoint goes bad.

Volvo OEM arms are about $150 each

aluminum arms near me a $40 each
I got a pair of Moog balljoints for $60($30 each side)
Roca bushings were $60($30 for each side)

I believe I read on another forum that your shocks/springs or coilovers would have to produce over 300 ft/lbs to bend one of these aluminum control arms. Not positive on that.

Aluminum arms with bushing, balljoint, and bolts weigh 4.5 lbs.
