Default Belching Black Smoke 95 850T

I am about to restore/mod my 95 850T. It has all the classic broken stuff you expect on an 850T with 300K miles on it. The odo is shot, the cup holders are broken and the glove box is stuck.

The reall issue is that when you stomp on the accellerator and the turbo kicks in it belches a ton of black smoke. It also eats about a quart of oil every few fill ups. I am a complete noob, but want to take a shot at fixing my car up as well as doing some performance mods. Any help on the smoke?

If it is eating the oil not leaking it on the ground...........you most likely are burning the oil hence the smoke, which means it's getting into the cylinders some how. I would start with a compression test.

Then check the vent system
Also check intercooler hoses. Black smoke means running to rich.

Yep, Black smoke is usually unburnt fuel (i.e. running rich) Blue smoke is burning oil, and white smoke tends to be coolant/water.

I fully concur with Psaboic as I have had different cars over the years that have had all of these problems .

You know where to start so take your time and you will be able to do this [sm=smiley20.gif].

A lot of replacement parts are available online and through different sources so you should not find it too difficult.

Get a digital camera and take lots of pics and after you find a place to upload them you can provide a link so that others can follow your progress. Do not worry about taking your time as long as you take clear pics, make sure when you take them that you use the window to see the pic to make sure that it is clear, and go nuts .

People love looking at the pics, at least I know I do, as you can get ideas and a little touch of paint and a bit of time can do wonders so a total rebuild is like a fresh canvas.
