Default big problem with o-ring install

I replaced the o-rings and put everything back together. But I have leak comming from a hole above the oil cooler. It is not a leak it is flowing out. Does a bolt go in there or something else. I have provided a pic. I cant see or put my finger in there to see what it is. The hole is is on the top not the bottom. see pic

Either you scratched the sealer off there or one of the o-rings fell and are causing the leak.

I really need some help, how do i stop this,it is not a leak, the oil is flowing out of this hole, I really dont want to remove the oil pan again. but if I do, what should i be looking for to plug that hole. the hole is on the engine block itself just above the oil pan and oil cooler.

Sorry to say but looks like the only way to fix it is to pull the pan again. It looks like it is coming out from between the pan and block. Clean it really good and sit there and have someone start it and watch to see if it comes from between the pan and block. Better yet pull the coil wire and just have someone crank it over.
Like I said above I will bet you either lost the o-ring from where it is supposed to be or rubbed the sealer off and it isn't sealing.

When I put the seals in the block I use a dab of the pan sealer in the hole to hold the seal in.

I believe if I remember correctly that is where one of the pan bolts go into. You can try removing the bolt and putting loctite on it then screw it back in.

That is right above the oil thermostat by the crank pulley.....can you take a pic from above the hole? Or Tech probably knows whether there should be a plug or not. I've dealt with the oil thermostat & the oil cooler lines but not the hole.

OK, so i fixed the leak from the hole. That hole is right by the o-rings. So what happened was that, the oring moved while i installed the pan back on. So the pan did not sit flush and left a gap which in turn caused it to leak through that hole. So I believe that hole is a safety feature. Ok so now for the bad news. I am now leaking from where the thermostat is at. I believe I striped the bolt holes while removing and replacing them some 20 times. what can I do. do i have to replace the oil pan. and if so can any pan from a 850 work. Please help. My car has been out of service for a month now.
thanks Rob

Hey now,

Sounds like you're going to have to retap the bad holes or if possible a heli-coil so the you have something to screw into.

Heli-coil will work fine.
Or any 850 pan will work fine.

So i went and bought new longer bolts for the oil cooler thermostat. And it is still squirting oil. So I am going to go the junk yard and find a oil cooler thermostat to see if this will fix it, and if that doesn't work I will go and get a oil pan. I just dont understand it. new bolts, new oring for the oil thermostat. but it still squirts oil out. Has anyone experienced this and whats the trick. When i screw it in. It is tight, but still squirts out oil.

Maybe it has a crack.
Does the screw bottom out before getting all the way tight?

There are no cracks and the bolts do not bottom out. I went to the junk yard and they will not sell the oil pan or oil thermostat separate, you have to buy the entire engine. I am going to order another o-ring for the thermostat to see if thay will fix it. Anyone parting out an 850 with the engine shot let me know.
