Hello everyone, i am the proud first owner of a 1996 854R 019BlackStone ManualTransmission with a beige interior. I am dutch, and after a awful lot of research i found out that i have the only copy of this exact car in the netherlands. i searched alot on the whole internet, and the closest that i got was the same car but with an AutomaticTransmission. Does anyone have, or know someone who has this car, since im really curious how many others are around? thanks. Evan

The only time I ever see manual trans in 850s, they're in N/A cars; that's why we have to do the jy swap if you really want a manual trans. Personally I've just resorted to being shiftless..

You have a left wheel burnout with smoke and you move forward and the right wheel starts to smoke but if you look at the other side of the car the smoking stops. One wheel is spinning until it gets traction and then it shifts the power to the other wheel that slips.
If it were a posi or limited slip it would transfer torque to the wheel with the most traction but at the same time drive the second wheel.
On yours (mine and ours) the wheel with the least traction gets the lions share of torque and once that balance shifts it sends that torque to the path of least resistance.
Trust me I've been behind way too many one wheeled cars in the winter back when rear drive was almost universal, pushing for all I had. You need a lot of guys on the bumper of a two and a half ton Cadillac stuck in a Minnesota snow drift.
Winter tip, always roll up your window before the snow plow comes by

In my defense, I'm not a Volvo expert. So maybe I'm wrong but in the research I was doing to get a high performance differential to handle higher horsepower I was told by the companies that made better units for the Volvo 4 and 5 spd manuals that they did not at that time 2011, early 2012 have anything for an automatic. If it isn't out yet, I doubt it's coming. I was playing with the idea of a stronger differential inside the 5 spd auto. I don't have any love of shifting and with extra power I like to have both hands free to "aim".
The lack of getting that second wheel grabbing is why an automatic equipped 850 is such a dog off the line compared to a manual. It's also why if you street race you don't want to do it from a dead stop.

not to annoy you guys, but my R has been chipped to 310hp, and a friend of mine has a s70R chipped to 350hp. yet mine feels alot quicker and ''racyer'' while hes actiually faster on a 0-60 run. of course on track he doesnt stand a chance. funny thing is, here there are a few cases where its the other way around. somebody on the dutch forum had a 855R MT wich he changed himself to a AT. arguing between him and me on if MT or AT is better seriously just never stops.
