Default Blinking AC/REC lights.

96 GLT- Iv'e been looking thru the threads on this subject. I'm curious, those lights have been blinking for years in my car. Everything works just fine, both AC and heat. I cleaned the two sensors near the roof handles with no luck. With everything working good I'm afraid of opening a can of worms. Anyone have any simple fixes?

the blinking lights indicate a climate control computer fault code was found. This could be as simple as one of the air blend door's damper motor is out of range and needs to be reset. The 95s can read the fault code using the OBD1 LED box (under the hood up front of the enginer by the passenger headlight), not sure if your 96 has this - if not, the diagnostics probably requires a dealer tool. Check out volvotips.com for a discussion on the fault codes.

I've noticed this behavior on the older systems when you get lint clogging the air temperature sensor grille. Take a shop vac and put full vacuum against the grille and pull all of that lint to the grille. Then, take a sharp tool and pull it through the grilles.

I believe that the flashing light is part of it seeing the fan on the temperature sensor stuck.
