Blinking tranny light
Today I test drove a turbo wagon, and the tranny arrow light was blinking. i know that in the 940s, when the light went on, it ment the overdrive was disengaged. What does the blinking light mean in a 850?
Thanks for the reply.
What could some of the problems be? The tranny itself seems to be shifting fine as far as I can tell, and the guy who I'm buying it from said he hasn't noticed anything different.

its a 95. I promised the guy I would buy it before I saw the light, and I'm picking it up today. Hopefully its nothing bad. What is limp mode exactly?
EDIT: I did a little research, isn't limp mode where the engine wont go above 2500 rpm? When I test drove the car, I brought it over 90 mph, far over 3k rpm. One other thing I forgot to mention is the spedo supposidly went dead the day before I test drove it. I need to ask him if the light was on before the spedo went.

If you really arent sure of the purchase or have doubt about the car, tell the seller and aks for a reduced price. Or, better yet, if the guy really wants to sell the car, get it inspected at a shop to see if the guy is pulling your leg.

A transmission on our cars will run you about $3k for a rebuilt one installed. Unless you are getting the car for $10 I'd pass personally. Or at LEAST pull the codes to see what the issue is. Mine has tranmission issues too, it's one of two things on the car that if broken make the car a junker IMO. The other is the engine. Just cause you told the seller you'd buy it doesn't mean you have to. You didn't sign a contract. My guess is he's lying to you, the lights on for a reason.
