The blower motor on my wife's 97 850 sedan randomly comes on at all times of the day and night - even when the car is turned off. Because of this her battery goes dead every few days. My mechanic replaced the blower relay but that didn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?

 

Sorry to say but the climate module might be bad. Also does your car have the Add on afterblow kit?

 

I'm pretty sure that it does have the blower kit. I have heard it running in the past after we turn the car off. But now it seems to be cycling on and off long after the car is shut off. We have had the car 10 years and the battery issue has only been the last couple of months.

 

Until you are able to get it sorted out, I would suggest pulling the fuse for the blower when you put the car away for the evening. At the very least it should save you another dead battery

 

I think there is a relay on the front of the climate box that controls it. There should be one for the A/C comp. and one for the blower motor kit.
