Boost control valve
Hello all !
So does anyone know if there is a replacement part for the boost control valve for a 96 ? Mine is a cylindrical type that slips into a metal housing mounted on the air box.
When I look online mine seems to be NLA. and none of the other ones listed look anything like mine.
Thanks !

Or is it the throttle control valve ? Either way it seems to be gone...
Guess it's the BPS. Superseded a couple of times now.
Think I have it figured out...

Good question. I am currently seeing just 5 psi all the time, and so while I have done nothing to fix it, I am aware my boost valve might be stuck. My car is a 98 and I can still get new (Pierburg), but it looks like the stated year range is really narrow. I haven't figured out if that is the problem though.
I am not sure why, but I haven't seen a lot of discussion online about how the system works exactly. I do see though that the Mac turbo control valve has been pretty popular as an aftermarket replacement. I figured something mechanical would be even more popular, since it wouldn't ever dial back. I don't know. Still figuring it out.

From what I've found online, 97 back are NLA. In my case ( 96 ) pierburg # 728197160 is what others are using with very good results.
I agree about lack of info. Kind of feel like I stepped into a black hole of sort...

IPD sells a heavy duty boost control valve that fits the 850Ts. I'm willing to bet there's compatibility with newer engines for the 850s.
Here's an interesting discussion thread on Matthews (note the T5R should be the same design as the T5s)

Hope this helps.
