Default Boost leak testing

Hi guys
I'm going to perform boost leak testing on my T5 and have already made a tester but wasn't sure what would be the correct way to do it. Could you please tell me step by step how to test it. I have watched YouTube and those dudes suggested to remove engine oil cap but some also said pcv hose need to be pluged before pressurize the air. If this need to be done pls tell me how should I plug the pcv hose?
Thanks ao much

are you trying to see if you have a pressurized hose leak or if your wastegate on the turbo is working properly? What are the symptoms of the car?

Hi
I'm trying to see if I have hose leaks. Car now boost at 14 psi from MBC but it doesn't pull as hard as it should. I don't even get wheel spin on 1st gear when it hits 14 psi. I actually have tested it with all the hoses and oil cap still attached and found leak noise from somewhere under the manifold ( oil trap) maybe and wishing that because I didn't do the right way. So I better ask for help here.
Thx alot
Thx

Thumbs down

I bet you don't wanna hear it, but you shouldn't be boosting to 14psi in first gear.

but anyways, Things to check

CV joints - will wear out and cause slip between transmission and tires
Engine mounts - will wear out and cause engine to retard the timing
air filter - will lead to poor performance
Vacuum lines - will lead to improper boost control
boost control solenoid - will lead to improper boost control
intercooler hoses - boost leaks
Transmission fluid - infrequently changed would slow down shifting and acceleration
oil/filter - old oil would retard engine timing and bad idle
the turbo itself - million different things could hurt this

If you can remove the radiator fan assembly and jack up the car on car jacks, you might be able to see if you have disconnected PCV lines. Doubtful thats the culprit. sounds like other things. To check PCV pressure put a ballon over the dipstick, if it inflates then the PCV system needs checked. manifold gasket is like $5 Fcpgroton

Look at all the air hose connections from the intake turbine to the exhaust. both manifolds, all vacuum lines, intercooler itself.

Doing a boost leak test does not involve the motor. There is no way you could set it up with all the valves closed at the same time. You will always have a leak somewhere. What you want to test is from the inlet of the turbo to the inlet of the throttle body, thats it. Your testing all your hoses and fittings. The only other thing to test is your vacuum lines and if they are in question then you should just replace them.
